The ILO and the Multilateral System

The multilateral system, with the United Nations at its core, supports countries in their endeavours for lasting peace and a more sustainable world. The ILO champions social justice within the UN system by promoting Decent Work as a cornerstone of sustainable development.

The ILO also extends its influence beyond the United Nations framework by cooperating with international financial institutions, regional groupings, the G7, the G20, and the BRICs to promote policy coherence on decent work issues, recognizing the crucial links between social, trade, financial, economic and environmental policies.

This broad engagement ensures that the ILO is well-positioned to develop its human-centered approach to transformative changes in the world of work.
