Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct for Transition
Funded by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the project provides skills and other supportive measures to increase the capacities of enterprises in the automotive and electrical and electronics industries and supply chains to adopt responsible business conducts in line with international labour standards and in harmony with national development priorities.

The electrical and electronics sector in Indonesia and the automotive sector in Thailand and their supply chains are undergoing significant transformations, largely driven by technological advancements and the shift towards low-carbon and environmentally sustainable products and vehicles. Against this backdrop, the Project focuses on upgrading workers’ skills and enterprises’ capacities to navigate these transitions, while aligning business practices with international labour standards and the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. For this, the Project implements an integrated approach combining skills development with responsible business conduct (RBC), aiming to increase productivity, advance decent work, and ultimately align national systems and practices with international labour standards.
Project objectives
- Provide skills development to enhance workers’ responsiveness and productivity for structural transformation to a sustainable economy, including respect for human rights, which is consistent with the country’s development priorities.
- Promote responsible business conduct including corporate activities in harmony with the country’s development priorities and respect for the principles of international labour standards.
- Promote an environment to contribute towards a transition to resilient supply chains from the perspectives of trade and investment.
