The series on "Promising Practices in Addressing Forced Labour" highlights various practices from ILO member States to comply with the 2014 Forced Labour Protocol (P29) and Recommendation (R203), which supplement the original 1930 Forced Labour Convention (C29). These instruments require ratifying member States to criminalize forced labour, enforce adequate penalties, prevent forced labour, protect victims, and ensure their access to justice.

Since 2014, a range of member States have undertaken actions in line with these provisions. The ILO Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR) monitors and publicly reports on compliance through observations and direct requests. Based on the CEACR's comments, the ILO has documented a series of promising practices that showcase the progress made by member States, to inspire further action to ILO constituents to combat forced labour.
