Cuba has been a member of the ILO since 1919. The country has ratified 90 Conventions and one Protocol, of which 64 are currently in force, including the ten fundamental Conventions.

The ILO is working in Cuba to strengthen the capacity of institutions for producing and analyzing labour data; it also provides technical assistance to improve interventions related to increasing productivity, entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability of enterprises.

ILO actions in Cuba are coordinated from the ILO Country Office for Mexico and Cuba.
